Local businesses are preparing for return season
Dec 26, 2024
MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Now that Christmas is over, many gifts that were opened will be heading back to the stores they came from. Maybe you got the wrong size pants or didn't get the right color water bottle. Whatever the reason is for a present not being quite right, businesses like Scheels prepare in advance for the crazy week that comes after Christmas.
"We prepare all year long for this day," Scheels Assistant Store Leader Dusty Vigstol said. "One of the things we do is we just stack up a little bit more with our team and we have extra hands today to help alleviate any extra customers coming in."
When asked what the most returned item is after Christmas, Vigstol said that it might not be what you think.
"We get back a lot of Stanley mugs that maybe weren't the right color and that's 100% fine," Vigstol said. "We actually have a lot of new colors coming out today, so we're excited for that."
Tips to make the return process easier
Taking part in return season is shopper Jenny Bittle who talked a little bit about what brought her into Scheels today.
"I was returning some clothes that I didn't like. They weren't the right colors for my complexion and didn't make me look the best," Bittle said. "So they gave me a gift card in exchange. I didn't have my receipt and now I'm going to pick out items I do like."
Not only are stores busy with returns and exchanges, they also have their year-end sales during the week after Christmas. Vigstol says that Scheels is providing some major discounts to end the year.
"To prepare for our 2025 inventory coming in, a lot of items in the store are on sale," Vigstol said. "Come in and check them out. We would be happy to get you taken care of."
If you're planning to make any returns this week, keep your eye out from now until the New Year for any year-end sales, because you might be able to maximize what you get in exchange.
