What new restaurants opened in Topeka in 2024?

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The capital city got several new restaurants over the course of 2024 to give locals some different options to satisfy their hunger.
While local residents did wind up saying goodbye to a slew of restaurants in 2024, more than a few new ones have opened. KSNT 27 News covered the openings of multiple new places to eat and drink in Topeka over the past year from unique new local restaurants to the arrival of more fast-food chains.

Cosmos Court
This new outer-space themed food court opened in February in Topeka's downtown near the Cyrus Hotel and The Pennant. The food court boasts a menu with "everything under the stars" and can be found at 909 South Kansas Avenue.

First Watch
A new rustic-themed breakfast restaurant that opened its doors to the public on Nov. 25 in west Topeka at 1825 Southwest Wanamaker Road. The Florida-based chain primarily focuses on serving the breakfast, lunch and brunch crowds. The restaurant features both an indoor and outdoor bar at its 3,800 square-foot space in Topeka.
Ta Co.
This new Mexican restaurant in the downtown area was years in the making and brought something new to Topeka. With three stories of space and margaritas on tap, the restaurant was built from the ground up and opened its doors on Aug. 5. You can find Ta Co. at 735 South Kansas Avenue.

QDOBA
The Mexican-fast food chain QDOBA constructed a new location in north Topeka that officially opened its doors on Nov. 4 at 2031 Northwest Topeka Boulevard. The restaurant owner later made a $10,000 donation to the Topeka Rescue Mission with proceeds made during its first day open.
Royal Society
Owner Adam VanDonge marketed the Royal Society, located at 913 South Kansas Avenue, as a wine and dive parlor with various men's goods for sale. The bar offers patrons their choice of alcoholic beverages and charcuterie in the downtown area. Royal Society opened for business in August.

Chick-fil-A
The fast-food chain teased the opening of a new location in south Topeka earlier in 2024. Staff opened the place to customers on Sept. 19 at 3231 Southwest Topeka Boulevard. The opening of this new Chick-fil-A brought with it 80 new jobs to the community.

Mr. Teriyaki
Eric Alcantara opened Mr. Teriyaki inside Topeka's West Ridge Mall on Sept. 22. He told 27 News prior to the opening that the menu offers customers their choice of vegetables, chicken, beef and fried rice.

Higher Grounds Coffeehouse & Deli
This new coffee shop, originally based out of a food truck, opened its first brick-and-mortar location in Topeka in July at 2200 Southwest Topeka Boulevard. The business was able to expand its menu and open hours to locals with this development.

Some Topeka restaurants, like the Olive Cafe and SHopper's Kitchen, announced location changes in 2024. The Weather Room in downtown Topeka was also named the most beautiful restaurant in Kansas for the year while LaRocca's Pizza was featured on America's Best Restaurants.

Looking ahead into 2025, Topeka may be getting some new restaurants early into the new year. Russell Clark, owner of American Kolache, previously teased the opening of a new location in west Topeka in the summer. Pizza Shuttle is also looking to open a new location in Topeka at the Gage Village Shopping Center with no opening date set.
