Pueblo man arrested after car chase for alleged kidnapping

(PUEBLO/COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) — The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) arrested a man after he allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend in Pueblo and led police on a pursuit to Colorado Springs.
On Thursday, Dec. 26, the PPD was dispatched to the 2200 block of East 12th Street near Highway 50 and Utica Avenue a little before 4 a.m. on a report of a kidnapping in progress. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the reporting party, who said 33-year-old Stevie Flores had left in a vehicle with his ex-girlfriend, and her family was concerned for her safety and called 911.
Officers were able to locate Flores and attempted to make a stop. However, the suspect escaped and began driving northbound on I-25. Out of concern for the woman's safety, a pursuit was initiated.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Fountain Police Department, and Colorado State Patrol were all called in to assist, and the car was finally stopped via a tactical vehicle intervention on Las Vegas Street in Colorado Springs.
Flores was arrested and charged with Second Degree Kidnapping, Domestic Violence, Vehicular Eluding, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and warrants for Criminal Impersonation- Cause Liability, and Failure to Appear.
He was taken to the Pueblo County Detention Center.
