BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A McFarland man is accused of running stop signs and red lights and darting along the wrong side of the road as he led police on a chase that reached speeds of more than 100 mph, according to a court filing. Abdalwahab Ali Awnallah, 45, is charged with felony evading and driving in the opposite direction of traffic, as well as misdemeanor reckless driving and three vehicle code infractions. A preliminary hearing is scheduled next month. The Blessing Corner’s Christmas extravaganza serves over 500 meals, distributes gifts On the night of Dec. 12, police arrived at Awnallah's home after a resident reported he had threatened to shoot himself, according to a warrant authored by McFarland police. The resident said Awnallah left in a Toyota Tundra. Police found and tried to stop the pickup but it took off, prompting a high-speed chase that ended when police lost sight of it, according to the warrant. Awnallah was found and arrested at the San Ysidro border crossing and booked into jail Monday. He remains in custody on $50,000 bail.
