BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- When contacted on Dec. 3 by probation officers outside his southwest Bakersfield home, Manuel Sergio Gonzalez said he'd just returned from picking up food for his children and medicine for a daughter who had dental work done. A search of his car, however, turned up something more potent than Tylenol -- fentanyl and methamphetamine packaged in baggies, according to a court filing. Officers also found a plastic pipe containing burnt residue; a search of Gonzalez's pockets revealed he was carrying $451.50 in cash. The Blessing Corner’s Christmas extravaganza serves over 500 meals, distributes gifts Gonzalez admitted the drugs were his and said he smoked both meth and fentanyl, having relapsed six months earlier, according to the filing. Officers suspected he was also selling the drugs. Gonzalez explained the amount of money on him by saying he was paid under the table in cash at his job selling and delivering tools. He said he didn't know the address of his workplace, or the name and address of a niece he said helps him, according to the filing. No charges were listed against him as of Thursday, but court records show an arraignment was scheduled Dec. 10 for violating his probation after being convicted in 2022 of gun possession by a felon.
