On Christmas, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell and his family showed some holiday spirit with a hilarious post on social media from Campbell’s wife, Holly. In a photo, the Campbell family is huddled in front of their Christmas tree, with all of them wearing matching Christmas sweaters. And written on the sweaters? “I have big beautiful balls,” with a couple of oversized ornaments displayed on the front. In the past month alone, Campbell has made a pair of risky decisions that have resulted in lengthy debates about aggressive coaching decisions. In Week 14, against the Packers, the Lions attempted five fourth-down attempts, including one from their own 31-yard line with the team still up three points. The most controversial attempts from that game was the very end, when Campbell bypassed a go-ahead 39-yard field goal with 43 seconds left, because he wanted to leave no time on the clock. Despite this strategy working to perfect, some believed it was too risky. Regardless, it’s nice to see the Campbells poke fun at it and embrace Campbell’s aggression, because that’s who the Lions are now: love it or hate it. After years of trying, the St. Brown brothers finally got Jameson Williams on the podcast for their special Christmas episode: The Detroit Free Press has a great story on how Christian Mahogany told his group of friends last year that there was one team he wanted to play for: the Detroit Lions. Speaking of which, Justin Rogers has a nice film breakdown of how Ifeatu Melifonwu’s 2024 debut went.
