Millions in funds going to three Chesterfield park projects

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors awarded millions in funding for three park improvement projects.
According to the county, these awards came during the board's meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
A county spokesperson said $9.7 million will go to The Park at River City Sportsplex, which will include a playground a spray park. The project will include three zones for different ages and abilities as well as a game space for tweens and teens.
In addition, The Park's spray park will span over 2,000 square feet. There will also be an outdoor fitness zone and walking and exercise trails. It's slated to open in the summer of 2026, according to Chesterfield County.

PREVIOUSLY: Chesterfield’s River City Sportsplex expands to 16 fields
Beulah Park will receive $3.1 million for a second phase of development, which will include a large playground and spray park scheduled to open in summer of 2025.
The Lowe's Athletic Complex improvement project will receive $2.1 million for paving the existing gravel parking lot, adding 30 new parking spaces, new accessible walkways and a new spectator area.
The complex will also get a fifth rectangular field and a new restroom building with storage and utility space.
