WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - Christmas was a quiet day in Washington, but the president and incoming president used their social media to wish the country a Merry Christmas. This is now the fourth year the Biden’s have celebrated Christmas in the White House.  The president wrote on X, “For the last time as your president, it's my honor to wish all of America a very Merry Christmas.” President- elect Donald Trump and President Biden offered two different messages to the American public this Christmas.  In a video posted to social media, the current president urged unity, from the White House where he and the first lady called service members to wish them happy holidays. Meanwhile Trump from Florida, launched a series of comments from Truth Social, where he also wished the country a Merry Christmas. Trump also previewed his policy goals for his next term, including a threat to take over the Panama Canal, "The United States has a big investment...of the Panama Canal.” No word on how Trump will be spending the rest of his week. President Biden departs from the White House Thursday morning to head to the Virgin Islands where he will bring in the new year with his family...a Biden tradition.
