PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Officials said several people are without a home after crews battled a two-alarm residential fire in Suitland Wednesday evening. The Prince George's County Fire and EMS Department (PGFD) said the fire broke out around 5:45 p.m. at a four-story multi-family dwelling in the 3300 block of Curtis Drive. When firefighters arrived, they saw flames showing from the top floor of the building. Person dies in Christmas morning house fire in Harford County No injuries were reported, but five units were damaged in the blaze and 10 people were displaced. So far, the investigation revealed that the fire started on the top floor and began spreading to another apartment, attic and building. Alan Doubleday with the Prince George's County Fire Department said it is important to practice fire safety 365 days a year. "Make sure you have an exit plan in your home, make sure you have a working smoke alarm, and if you do find a fire within your home get out and stay out," said Doubleday. The fire remains under investigation.
