Detectives investigating deadly shooting in Southeast DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in D.C. overnight.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said their preliminary investigation indicated that around 12:40 a.m. on Dec. 26, officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Fairlawn Avenue SE for shooting.
Once at the scene, officers found a man who had been shot.
Police said first responders tried to save him, but he died at the scene.

As of Thursday morning, no suspects had been taken into custody, and the victim's name had not yet been released.
