STEPHENSON, Wis. (WFRV) - Authorities in Marinette County say a 25-year-old is dead following a crash Tuesday night that appears to have been caused by both speed and alcohol. According to a release from the Marinette County Sheriff's Office, deputies were alerted by an iPhone crash detection call at 7:35 p.m. for a possible crash on County Highway X near Silver Creek Road in the Town of Stephenson. Officials, once on scene, determined that 25-year-old Chase M. Cutty from Crivitz was heading west on County Highway X when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. Driver arrested in Oak Creek after traffic stop reveals drugs and stolen handgun While attempting to make the pass, Cutty reportedly lost control of his vehicle, went into the ditch, hit several trees, and was ejected from the vehicle. Deputies say Cutty suffered fatal injuries and both speed and alcohol appear to have been factors in the crash. No other information is available at this time and investigation led by the Marinette County Sheriff's Office remains ongoing.
