FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – People across the Central Valley celebrated Christmas in many different ways - whether it was going to church, the movies, or staying in, the holiday spirit was alive in the Central Valley.
"Just spend time together at the house. Chilling, you know, and maybe watch another movie at the house for sure," Maria Ramirez said.
"Open presents early in the morning like everyone else does have our original tamales for breakfast," Drucy Martinez said.
But this year, some people like Martinez, found new ways to make Christmas extra special.
"We're originally from Ohio, and this is our first year at Candy Cane Lane. And we just we're making new traditions this year," Martinez said.
"We are so excited. But our daughter is so much excited because it's first Christmas for us in the U.S. and before this we were in India," Anoop Kakkar said.
Whether old or new traditions, most agree the holidays are about one thing.
"Having fun with family and finally getting to see them, you know, because sometimes you don't see them as often," Malia, a Clovis resident said.
"Being together as a family, recognizing the birth of Jesus and just being together," Martinez said.
People in the valley said it does not matter what they do on Christmas, it is about spending time with their loved ones.
