BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – She was pulled over on the side of the freeway asleep, but her car was still in drive.    "It's going to be one female occupant appears to be down and out and the vehicle still is currently in drive,” said the deputy who first arrived on scene. Bernalillo County Sheriff deputies banged on the driver’s side window. They even use a police siren to wake up 35-year-old Janice Apodaca. But she doesn't budge. It's not until they blow an air horn that she finally wakes up. "Absolutely no response when he was sirening her,” said one deputy. A witness told police Apodaca almost hit them and several others. They found Apodaca’s white SUV on the side of the freeway with heavy damage to the front right side of her car. When Apodaca wakes up, deputies ask her to roll down her window. They report she was only able to roll it down halfway and she struggles to find the button to complete the task. Police notice slurred speech and confusion from Apodaca, and while she denies consuming alcohol or drugs. Deputies suspect she's under the influence. "She can't even stand up straight, she like fell over,” said a deputy. When deputies tried to conduct a breath field test, she refused. They arrested Apodaca for reckless driving and aggravated DWI.
