Officials say hosting the event is a way to give to those who are less fortunate. "We want them to feel like family. We do this to make them feel at home, even though it's not really their real home, but to make them feel like they are family to us," Joy Junction executive director Elma Reynalds said. Around 2,000 meals were prepared for Wednesday's event.
