BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — On Christmas Day, many families across North Dakota gathered in local churches to celebrate the holiday’s true meaning. For some, it’s a long-standing tradition, while for others, it’s a new way to embrace the season. For an attendee at the Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, Andrew Schafer, the choice to attend church is about recognizing what truly matters. “It’s easy to forget this in our modern lives, but our lives are centered around God, whether we like it or not. The best thing we can do is recognize that and come to church,” Schafer said. For some, attending church isn’t just about avoiding distractions, but about embracing what holds deeper meaning. “You have to recognize that this is the better good. Being with family and doing other activities is good, but being close to God is better,” Schafer said. For others, church represents a place of joy, love, and community — a special space where everyone comes together to celebrate the season. New study shows that North Dakotans cheat during game night Dax McDaniel reflected, “There is so much joy here in the church. You get to see all of the congregants, everybody in town, friends and family, and everyone is overflowing with joy and love. It’s a special place to be.” Many attended church services on Christmas Eve, creating memories to cherish. Brody, a churchgoer, shared, “It was good. It was awesome. Lots of people there. It was packed.” No matter the circumstances, the invitation to return to church is always open. Whether it’s been weeks, months, or even years, the message remains clear — it’s never too late. Kayla McDaniel said, “Come on back. There’s always time for church. It’s such a small sacrifice we can make for such a big gift that God has given us, our lives, everything around us, our families. It’s never too late. It’s one of the best and most loving places you can come.” According to the Pew Research Center, 52% of North Dakota adults attend religious services at least once a week, a higher rate than the national average.  Close Thanks for signing up!
