Locals search for slopes as white Christmas dodges DC

MERCERSBURG, Pa. (DC News Now) -- No white Christmas in the immediate Washington, D.C. area this year -- but that did not keep some from our region from find a way to hit the mountain slopes.
Martin Pichler from Silver Spring, for instance, could not wait to navigate the snow. In under two hours, he made his way to Whitetail Resort in Pennsylvania.
"I'm really looking forward to it," said Pichler as he unloaded his winter gear from his car. "First day on the slopes this season so, yeah, it'll be a great day."

Kylie Zehner and her fiancee left their Haymarket, Va. home early this Christmas morning to hit the slopes at Whitetail.
"We're just going to do some snowboarding," said Zehner. "Hopefully not too many hard falls or anything. But we'll see how the day goes. And, yeah, we enjoy the snow."
"We have a blast just going down the slopes," said Zehner's fiance, Stanley Alves. "Especially watching your fiancee and friends fall. I think that's the best part. We get a couple of laughs doing that."
Their friend, Alexander Dexter, living in Germany, made his way to the States for the holidays for a few hours this Christmas day on the slopes.
