Woman killed in crash while backing out of driveway in Lemoore

LEMOORE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A woman is dead following a two-vehicle collision as she was backing out of a driveway Tuesday in Lemoore, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officers say on Dec. 24, at approximately 7:20 p.m., dispatch received a call of a three-vehicle collision in the area of Hanford Armona Road and 16th Avenue.
According to CHP, they along with the Kings County Sheriff's Office responded to the area and located a crashed 2012 Nissan Altima and a crashed 2017 GMC Acadia.
Officers say the preliminary investigation determined a male driver of GMC Acadia was traveling eastbound on Hanford Armona Road, east of 16th Avenue.
The woman driving the Nissan was backing out of a private driveway on the south side of Hanford Armona Road, partially into the east and westbound lanes of the road, which CHP says was in the path of the GMC and they crashed.
According to officers, the woman was taken to a local hospital where she later died of her injuries.
CHP says the man driving the GMC was also taken to the hospital and is being treated for his injuries along with the three other people in the GMC.
The use of alcohol and or drugs does not appear to be a factor in this crash.
