(KRON) -- San Jose’s top cop hit the streets during the Christmas Eve midnight shift, providing time off to two young San Jose Police Department officers. Chief of Police Paul Joseph said he patrolled the city’s busiest district along with Assistant Chief of Police Brian Shab.
“Asst. Chief Shab and I worked the midnight shift Xmas Eve in our busiest Patrol District so that two young officers could take the night off,” Joseph said on X.

During the shift, the chiefs were able to locate a suspect who had brandished a firearm at a motorist, according to Joseph. The suspect was placed under arrest and booked into jail. The policemen duo recovered a handgun connected to the incident.
