WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Christmas Eve and Christmas morning were busy for Wichita firefighters. The department responded to 11 reported calls, of which several were working fires. The first fire happened at 9 p.m. at a southeast Wichita duplex at Hunter and Cottonwood. Video provided by the department shows flames coming from the corner of the duplex. The department said a new rookie who just graduated Friday was 13 hours into his first shift and helped fight the blaze. Estelle Ave. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control. There were no reports of injuries.
