St. Paul police investigators are looking into the sudden death of a 1-year-old on Wednesday afternoon. About 1:30 p.m. officers were called to the 1000 block of 5th Street East where a child was not breathing, said St. Paul police spokesman Sgt. Toy Vixayvong. St. Paul fire medics transported the child to Regions Hospital where the child was pronounced dead. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the child’s death, Vixayvong said. The Ramsey County medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is active and no more information was available on Wednesday night.Related Articles Crime & Public Safety | Journalist Michele Norris to headline Minneapolis MLK breakfast Crime & Public Safety | Hundreds of cats from across the country and Canada to compete in St. Paul next month Crime & Public Safety | Free eagle viewing and education event coming to South St. Paul’s Kaposia Park on Saturday Crime & Public Safety | Shakopee prison inmate charged with a swindling scheme that netted her $60,000 in public aid Crime & Public Safety | Hastings man who threatened to kill deputy police chief sentenced to 90 days in jail
