Dec 25, 2024
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – The Bank of Rhode Island (BankRI) Holiday Giving Tree had one of their biggest years in the program’s 27-year history.
According to BankRI, 6,944 gifts were donated to brighten the holiday season for underprivileged children across Rhode Island.
This year’s Holiday Giving Tree began on November 1st, with all 22 Bank RI branches displaying giving trees. Each giving tree was decorated with ornaments featuring the name, age and holiday wish of a child served by that respective branch’s nonprofit partner. For the next several weeks bank customers, staff and members of the communities picked an ornament and alter returned with their donated gift.
The bank’s Pawtucket branch accepted a total of 783 gifts to benefit Adoption Rhode Island, closely followed by the Woonsocket branch who collected 763 presents for Connecting for Children & Families. The BankRI Lincoln branch brought in 757 gifts for the Town of Lincoln’s Holiday Basket Program.
