OKC Community Chanukah Festival set for Sunday with carnival rides, food and menorah lightning
Dec 25, 2024
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — As Wednesday, December 25, marks Christmas Day, the day is also the start of the Jewish holiday, Hanukkah, also known as the "Festival of Lights."
This is only the fourth time that Hanukkah has begun on the same evening as Christmas, with the last time occurring in 2005.
To commemorate the holiday, Chabad Community Center and Keller Williams OK Region are hosting the OKC Community Chanukah Festival on Sunday, December 29, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Scissortail Park.
“We can all benefit from the Menorah’s message that light will always overpowerdarkness, and decency will always triumph over hate” says Rabbi Goldman, Director ofthe Center. “We believe it is vital for us to spread light and positivity, and to uplift peoplewhen and where we can.”
The festival will include live music performed by Kyle Dillingham and Horseshoe Road; there will also be carnival rides, games, circus acts, caricatures, magic shows, kosher food tasting, a giant menorah lighting, and a chocolate parachute drop.
The family-friendly holiday carnival is free and open to the public.
