MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Most businesses were closed Christmas Day, but some like Perkins Restaurant and Bakery, were opening their doors to serve the community. "It's a part of our family values our traditions here at Perkins. We've been doing this for 65 years," manager Katie Turner said. "We always stay open so our family can provide good meals for families." Perkins Restaurant and Bakery is one of the few places open on Christmas Day. Turner shared one of her favorite memories serving the community during the holidays. "It was an older gentleman. None of his family was here. He wasn't able to provide Christmas for himself, so coming in and allowing us to do that for him was an honor," she said. What fast food, restaurant chains will be open on Christmas Day 2024? For customers like Nunnie Shakur, having a place to go on Christmas Day is a big deal. She shared with us how important it is for her and her family to have a warm meal together today. "We're just happy that we're able to come together in fellowship and enjoy this holiday," Shakur said. "We're glad that they're open so we can bring all of our family together. We have a large family. We're just happy and merry." Perkins isn't the only place open today. Other businesses, like Piccadilly, Studio on the Square movie theater, CVS pharmacy, McDonald's, and Circle K gas stations are also welcoming customers on Christmas Day.
