During a press conference Wednesday morning, Commander Brukbacher said that a preliminary investigation suggests there was a shooting in the parking lot. Multiple people were involved and multiple rounds were fired.
Police said all the people involved in the shooting got into a Mazda and fled from the scene "and "at a high rate of speed." The Mazda then crashed into a Regional Transportation District light rail train near Sable Boulevard and Ellsworth Avenue.
"It appears based on video that the Mazda tried to beat the train crossing the intersection and ended up striking almost directly against the driver's compartment of that train," Cmdr. Brukbacher said.

Police said four people, including three men and one woman, were taken to the hospital.
Five people were inside the vehicle, and police said three of them were taken to the hospital. The driver sustained critical injuries and the others sustained minor injuries. One of the passengers sustained a gunshot wound but police said they did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.
The light rail train operator was also taken to a hospital and all four occupants of the light rail were uninjured.
Some people were detained as the investigation is ongoing, and added that there will be charges upcoming, police said.
Police said investigators believe the incident was family-related, or that those involved knew each other.
"As far as we're aware there are no outstanding suspects from the shooting at this time, and there is no danger to the community," Cmdr. Brukbacher said.
Sable Boulevard and Ellsworth Avenue are closed in the area and are expected to remain closed for several hours. The train was knocked off the tracks and will be out of service for an extended period.
The Aurora Police Department is working with RTD Police in the investigation.
