HARFORD COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- The Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) in Maryland is investigating after a person died in a house fire in Harford County Christmas morning. Officials said just before 7 a.m. on Dec. 25, a 911 call came in for a house on fire in the 200 block of Doncaster Road in Joppa with a person trapped inside. The Harford County Fire and EMS Department (HCFD) said when crews arrived, heavy flames were showing from a single-family home. The fire was contained in about 20 minutes with the help of 36 first responders. Water services interrupted in Northwest DC due to main break The OSFM reported that while searching the house, firefighters discovered the victim's body. According to the fire department, another person who was in the house was evaluated by EMS at the scene. "Our thoughts are with the affected family and community during this difficult time," said the Harford County Fire and EMS Department, in a post on social media. As of Wednesday morning, the cause of the fire was under investigation.
