Ben Johnson dug deep in his bag for another trick play on Sunday. Which one has been your favorite this season? Happy Holidays!
Just when you think the Detroit Lions have tried every trick play in the book, they come up with something new. Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson fooled everyone again in Week 16 against the Bears, rolling out a “fake stumble” play action pass that resulted in a Sam LaPorta touchdown. The season is far from over, but with the Lions putting on so many theatrics, it’s time to ask the question: what has been your favorite trick play so far this season?
Question of the day: What has been your favorite Lions trick play this season?
There are so many to choose from. This week, we got the fake stumble that led to a Sam LaPorta touchdown. Last week, we had the Dan Skipper delayed release for a big man receiving touchdown. Against the Cowboys, we had the triple-pitch flea flicker that resulted in a long Sam LaPorta touchdown.
My answer: My favorite has to be the hook and ladder from Amon-Ra St. Brown to Jahmyr Gibbs in Week 3 against Arizona. It was so perfectly executed and so unexpected and came at such a good time in the game. It set the tone for the Lions to take control of the game and the crowd pop for an away game was unlike anything I’ve ever heard. The Lions took control of the game with that play and never let it go.
Which Lions trick play has been your favorite this season? Are you expecting more in the next two weeks, or should Ben Johnson save it for the playoffs? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
