A few Christmas Day rain showers
Dec 25, 2024
Our Christmas Eve flew by on a gloomy, but dry note across northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. While the gray skies stick around, the dry conditions will not. Rain showers return to the area for this Christmas Day.
A bit of a chill is in the air this morning with temperatures in the mid-30s across the area. If you're traveling to visit family and friends today, have that coat, and an umbrella handy for the holiday.
Unfortunately, we did not get a White Christmas this year. But, we will not be dealing with the brutally cold temperatures that we saw with our last White Christmas, which was in 2022.
The rain showers today will not be widespread, but mainly scattered. They will also be mainly light, so Christmas will not be a washout this year. Don't let the gray skies and rainy times ruin the holiday spirit! Just have that umbrella handy. High temperatures today reach the upper 30s, which is more seasonable, and less extreme compared to the past few Christmases we've experienced. A few flurries may mix in for some, but we will be too warm for accumulation.
Scattered rain showers push into our southern communities first in the morning. The rain showers will be hit-and-miss throughout the day.More rain shower chances late morning.Temperatures slowly rise under the cloudy skies and scattered rain.Highs in the upper 30s for Fort Wayne.A slight rain chance entering the evening. The best rain chances exit by 7 PM.
Our rain chances decrease into the evening, with only a slight chance for an isolated rain shower then. Accumulation totals for the day will be less than 0.15" for most.
Only light accumulation will be had from the rain shower today.
Dry conditions prevail on Thursday and are mostly cloudy, meaning we could see occasional sunshine. High temperatures continue to rise, with upper 40s on Thursday. We'll see 50s on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. With the 50s comes increased moisture as multiple weather systems move by this weekend, so have that umbrella!
Multiple rain chances through the rest of this week..
Mother Nature has a New Year's resolution, and for the warm-weather fans, it is some unfortunate news. She wants to bring us back down into the 30s to start the new year, bringing us down to more seasonable temps.
