(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A veteran investigator with the 4th Judicial District is continuing a nearly 15-year tradition this holiday season by decorating the Colorado Springs office with a miniature Christmas village. "In this, display here, I've got a little over 50 buildings... Well, over 100 figurines and trees and whatnot," said retired Chief Investigator Larry Martin. The display is interactive and even features a "Naughty or Nice Detective Agency" building, which is Martin's favorite addition this year. "Witnesses come in and want to bring their families back and want to see it," said Martin. "So that's what makes it, happy for me. A happy time for me to come in here and build this thing." Martin said he has hundreds of Christmas Village pieces, though the display at the DA's Office includes about 50. Martin's mother started the tradition in his family, and he decided to keep it going to the delight of his daughter. The display has been present in the DA's Office for going on 15 years now, beginning under DA Dan May, and employees are always happy to see it return. "While I'm in here putting it together, employees come in, 'Oh, great. You're putting the Christmas village together again! We really look forward to that every year,'" Martin said. Newly re-elected DA Michael Allen said he's excited to keep the tradition going, and said he loves to see how Martin changes the village for the office each year.
