Ice skating in Baton Rouge brings family fun

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) - On Christmas Eve in Baton Rouge, many mark the holiday by embracing family togetherness and having fun.

Experienced skaters and novices take to the ice at the River Center downtown.
Addis resident Madison Prudhomme says, "It’s fun. We’ve been doing this a long time.”She says her grandfather loves to take his grandkids to the rink almost every day it's here.
As a lifelong hockey fanatic and Louisiana native, Nickie Grissom says he's so happy to share his passion at home.
He says, "I’ve played most major sports, but to me, hockey is the ultimate."
Grissom has thirteen grandkids and says he's taught all of them how to ice skate.Prudhomme says, "It’s great to spend time with family, and be with my grandfather, he’s amazing.”
Kids of all ages were thrilled about this Christmas Eve memory with the people they love most.
Skating enthusiast Athena Pankey says, "I'm here with my mommy, auntie, little cousin and my daddy."
Baton Rouge resident Vallery Lomas, who brought her daughter Lillian, says, “We are very excited to be here. It’s Lillian's first-time ice skating, and she didn't want to get off the ice!" If you want a chance to skate, there's still time.
