College Park's District 3 City Councilmember Stuart Adams resigns

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (DC News Now) -- The District 3 City Councilmember of College Park, Stuart Adams, announced that he is resigning, effective Jan. 8, 2025
This comes after Adams submitted his letter of resignation from City Council on Dec. 22.
Adams has served on the City Council since November 2021. In his letter, he stated that he loves being an advocate for the city, but as a young father, his "availability as a City Councilmember has become more constrained."

said Councilmember Adams, in his resignations letter.
According to the City's website, Adams moved to College Park to embrace the college-town atmosphere and has been a resident since 2015. He also served as the President of the Calvert Hills Citizens Association for three years.
Per the City Charter, a Special Election must be held within 65 days of the vacancy. Officials said the City's Board of Election Supervisors will meet to recommend a date the District 3 Special Election will be held.
Once the candidate is elected to fill Adams' seat, they will serve until the November 2025 General Election, according to officials.
