HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - The Holyoke YMCA will be offering a 20% discount on monthly memberships to all city employees starting January 1 as a way to honor Holyoke's workforce and encourage health and wellness.
The city of Holyoke has collaborated with the YMCA of Greater Holyoke to provide this discount to all city employees, which will include those working in the police, fire, school department, DPW, water works, and gas and electric. New members will also have their registration fee of $20 waived.

The YMCA said that enrollment for the employees will be available through onboarding, open enrollment, and on a monthly basis, and deductions will be taken through their paychecks directly every other week. For employees enrolled in the city's Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts health plan, they will have other benefits available to them such as a fitness reimbursement program and wellness credits that will help them accomplish their health goals.
"Being healthier just got easier," said the City Personnel Director Kelly Curran. “I’m excited about this partnership and the payment option makes it more convenient and affordable to create healthy habits. I’m excited I get to help people have opportunity and access to such an important Holyoke resource.”
The YMCA has served as one of the oldest social service agencies in Holyoke, and plans to continue supporting city employees through their programs and through making health and wellness more affordable and accessible.
