Deer Valley’s torchlight parade lights up with fireworks
Dec 24, 2024
Deer Valley Resort’s annual torchlight parade will launch something new this year — fireworks.“They will make the event more festival and magical for the spectators,” said Director of Communications Emily Summers. “This will be my 19th Torchlight, and I don’t think we’ve ever done fireworks.”The fireworks will shoot off at the end of the parade that will start at dusk on Dec. 30, according to Summers.“The parade takes place at Big Stick ski run on Bald Eagle Mountain, behind Snow Park Lodge,” she said. “It will feature between 75 and 100 skiers, and we’ll have our Synchro Team, which is around 25 to 30 ski instructors, do a demonstration.”In addition to the skiing and fireworks, the Deer Valley mascots — Bucky the Deer and Quincy the Bear — will be on site to greet visitors, Summers said.“We’ll also have live music and complimentary hot chocolate, cider and cookies on the Snow Park plaza,” she said. “Our normal food-and-beverage operations will be open so folks can get some Deer Valley fare before or after the parade, and Edgar’s, our aprés ski bar, has been redesigned, so they’ll have a new menu.”The torchlight parade has become a tradition to many Deer Valley Resort guests who visit during the season, Summers said.“It’s a great way to celebrate such a festive time of year,” she said. “It’s a great thing to bring visitors events like this that add some festivity to the week. We’ve always held it on Dec. 30, so it’s another event to slot in that won’t interfere with other things, and it brings some magic we can do as a ski town. There’s nothing like seeing the night light up with skiers.” Deer Valley Ski School instructors board the lift in preparation for a past Torchlight Parade at the resort.
