HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A Huntsville real estate agent who disappeared last week might have made it to Jackson, Tenn. just minutes after his car was found about 60 miles away.
A missing persons report was filed for Ronald Dumas Jr. on Tuesday, December 17, at 9:48 a.m. after he was last heard from on Sunday, Dec. 15, around 10 p.m. HPD said that, according to the report, Dumas was out with people on Sunday; however, his family and friends didn't know who they were.

On Dec. 16, the Tennessee Highway Patrol found his car on the side of Interstate 40. Tennessee Highway Patrol were dispatched to a call about an abandoned vehicle around 6:30 that morning and found the vehicle near mile marker 133 close to Camden, Tenn. about 9 minutes later.
It was impounded that same day. But at around 7 a.m., Huntsville Police said his phone was on in a location a few dozen miles west.
"We have reason to believe that he made it to Jackson, Tennessee. His phone location history shows that on Dec. 16th, just after 7 a.m., his phone was on I-40 just outside of Jackson, TN," HPD told News 19.
Two days after the vehicle was impounded, THP discovered it belonged to Dumas, and dispatched multiple state troopers to the mile marker where the vehicle was to search for him on foot.
On Dec. 19, HPD said they sent requests for the location history of Dumas's cell phone to his cell service providers.
The following day, the lead investigator traveled to see the vehicle and survey the area on I-40 where it was found. HPD said they discovered the vehicle had likely broken down on Dec. 16.
Authorities say THP state troopers, a helicopter, two Tennessee Bureau Investigative agents were also sent to search for more information on Dec. 20.
HPD said that while searching, the cell service location history revealed Dumas's cell phone was traveling west on I-40 past mile marker 133 and toward Jackson around 6:08 a.m., where his phone history showed he was less than an hour later.
News 19 spoke to multiple of Dumas's family members and the mother of one of his 3 kids, who all said him leaving without telling anyone would be out of character.
HPD is still asking those who were with Dumas on the night of Dec 15. to come forward and provide information to authorities. Anyone with information about Dumas and his possible whereabouts is encouraged to contact lead investigator Gibbs at (256) 427-5448.
