(WFRV) - Today, Governor Tony Evers released a statement regarding the passing of former Wisconsin State Senator, George Petak.
Kathy and I join the people of Wisconsin in mourning the loss of Sen. Petak today. Sen. Petak was a man of faith, courage, and principle. He truly had a servant’s heart, always leading with empathy and integrity to give back and do more for others. Kathy and I join the people of Wisconsin in mourning the loss of Sen. Petak and offer our sincerest sympathies to his wife, kids, loved ones, and the many whose lives he touched.

George Petak was a Republican politician who represented Wisconsin's 21st District in the State Senate from 1991 to 1996.
He became widely recognized for casting the pivotal vote in 1995 that secured public funding for the baseball stadium now known as American Family Field.
