FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The clock is ticking for last minute holiday shopping as many stores are slashing prices for one last blowout sale.
Scott Hoffman, Store Director at Meijer on Dupont Road says Christmas is the busiest holiday for the store. This year was especially challenging as they were compressed due their being one less week this year between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Hoffman credits his team of dedicated employees that work nonstop to ensure shoppers have everything they need for the holidays.
"We love it, and we love when it's crazy busy. That makes it fun. And that's I think that's why those of us in retail, are in retail, because we enjoy that experience," said Hoffman.
Christmas day is the one day a year Meijer locations nationwide are closed. Hoffman says it's important to give workers the opportunity to enjoy Christmas with their families as well.
"Our team gives so much throughout the year, and we want to give them that day, being with family and friends is of utmost importance on Christmas, and we just are glad that we are able to do that."
Meijer will close at 7:00 pm on Christmas Eve, they will not be open on Christmas day. Locations are set to re-open on Thursday December 26 at 6:00 am.
