FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Saipan fugitive who fled Fort Wayne to avoid prosecution for rape, sexual assault with children, and various drug charges has been sentenced for his remaining charges.
Charles Dewey III was arrested on December 9, 2020, and left the United States after posting bond.

While on the run, more charges involving other victims were filed. Dewey had active warrants out of Allen County issued in 2020 and 2021 for Level 1 felony rape; three counts of Level 4 felony sexual misconduct with a minor; Level 5 felony child solicitation; Level 4 felony failure to appear on child solicitation, and several misdemeanor warrants.
Four years later in Allen County, on December 20, 2024, he pled guilty to his remaining cases. Dewey was sentenced to the Indiana Department of Corrections.
He received a total of 59 years, including what he received in September for a similar unrelated case, according to Allen County Court records.
