EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — U.S. Border Patrol agents discovered 22 migrants housed at a residence last week in El Paso, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens said in a social media post.
Owens said agents found the migrants in "poor conditions" on Dec. 16 at a residence in El Paso. Owens called the residence a "stash house" in his post.
Agents responded to the location after receiving information about the home "possibly being used for illicit activity," Owens said.
Owens said that all individuals were found in good health and would be processed for removal.
Owens did not specify where the alleged stash house was.
"Reporting suspicious activity not only keeps our communities safe but can also lead to the rescue of migrants suffering at the hands of dangerous smugglers," Owens said.
KTSM reached out to Border Patrol for more information and is awaiting a response.
