MINOT, ND (KXNET) — The Ward County Sheriff's Department is warning county residents of scam calls being made claiming to be from sheriff's deputies. "We’ve received multiple reports of Ward County residents receiving phone calls from 'Sgt. Hubbard' demanding payment for missing court or failing to comply with a summons," the sheriff's department posted on its official Facebook page. "This is a SCAM. Do not follow their directions." These types of calls have been making the rounds throughout North Dakota for a few years and have apparently made their way up north once more. As is the case with other law enforcement agencies, the sheriff's department will never call demanding some kind of payment for missing court dates or failing to comply with a summons. The sheriff's department says if you receive such a call or are unsure about a similar-sounding call, contact the Ward County Sheriff's Department at 701-867-6500. Close Thanks for signing up!
