How to get around St. James Parish's Christmas Eve bonfire

ST. JAMES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Christmas is a day away, which means it's time to start those Christmas Eve traditions, and for some, that may include going to a bonfire.
Several parishes across Southeast Louisiana participate in the tradition every year, including St. St. James Parish.

As you prepare for the festive fun, the St. James Parish Sheriff's Office is sharing its traffic plans ahead of the parish's Christmas Eve bonfire festivities.
St. James Parish deputies said starting at 6:30 p.m., traffic on Highway 44 will be two-way traffic, and all highways between Louisiana 642 and Louisiana 3213 will be "right turn only onto Highway 44.

Deputies said some streets in Gramercy and Lutcher will be blocked at Highway 44. They said the traffic plan will be in place until 9 p.m.
In addition to the traffic plans, the sheriff's office is also reminding residents that bonfires cannot be lit before 7 p.m. and festivities should end by 11 p.m.
