Community event in Baton Rouge to help citizens overcome loneliness with Christmas fun
Dec 24, 2024
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Grief is often amplified this time of year, according to mental health professionals. That's why Geaux Create Studios and the Reimagine Women's Center in Baton Rouge are teaming up and hosting a free community event on Christmas Day called 'A Nostalgic Holiday.'
"We are collaborating to make this event as best as it could possibly be," said Marian Gbaiwon, owner of Geaux Create Studios. "Let's put an event together. I love to see people getting together and having a good time."
Organizers said they do not want anyone to feel alone on Christmas. The event will create a space where everyone feels welcome and supported, no matter their situation. There will be karaoke, crafts and plenty of other activities, including an 'introverted zone,' which will be a dedicated space where individuals can quietly watch movies, enjoy the festive atmosphere, and simply be without any pressure to interact.
The event starts at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 25 at the RWC at 7600 Airline Highway. Participants must be 21 and older to attend.
