EDISON, Calif. (KGET) -- People living at the Edison Mobile Home Park are still without power Monday evening after a fire that killed two women and melted power lines. Just a day before Christmas Eve, residents say the situation is becoming dire and the community residents are asking for help this Christmas. "There's people out here on hospice and they can't get anything that they need either. Most of them have breathing problems like I do," said Debbie Tucker, a 2-year resident at the park. Tucker said she has COPD, Valley Fever and bronchitis. Without any power, it's hard for her to breathe in the cold temperatures of the night. "We need blankets and generators, it's just really, really...it's hard," said Tucker. The sound of the trailer park is filled with humming generators. A mother and son had to pay out of pocket for their generator, just to keep the lights on and their phones charged. They can't run heat, or even their fridge, without more power. "A couple nights ago the sheriff's department came and put a notice on the apartment trying to condemn the place...there's nowhere to go," said Shawn Highfill, who lives with his mom at the park. "This is rock bottom for me and my mom, I take care of my mom and she basically got health problems." While the park is under state jurisdiction, it resides in the county supervisor area 2 district, the district Chris Parlier was just sworn into last week. We reached out to Parlier's office, asking if any help was to come to the residents here. A spokesperson for district 2 said the state is helping residents with relocation but did not mention any action the county is taking. Arvin man admits to sexually assaulting neighbor’s dog Highfill also said the owner of the trailer park doesn't care. "I think the owner should be held accountable to some extent. I mean it is his property," said Highfill. Documents obtained by 17News show the owner of the mobile park lives in Los Angeles County. We attempted to contact him multiple times, but have not received any word back. The investigation into the the deaths of the two women is still ongoing. It is being investigated as a homicide, but no suspects have been named. The Kern County Sheriff's Office says the public is not in danger, but won't say why or how it knows that. If you can't make it in person to donate blankets or generators, there are multiple GoFundMe's set up for financial donations. They are linked here and here.
