BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Governor Maura Healey granted Santa and his team of reindeer a safe and welcome journey to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
She announced on Tuesday that she had given Santa a special permit for his travel on Christmas Eve.

The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (MassWildlife) said that all nine of Santa's reindeer were cleared for takeoff due to health and "flight readiness". MassWildlife's deer biologist Martin Feehan ensured that the visit of these magical reindeer would not interfere with the native population of white-tailed deer and moose.
“Santa takes the health of his reindeer and the wildlife they encounter very seriously,” said Feehan. “We’re happy to report his team is in tip-top shape and ready to deliver holiday cheer.”
With the holiday permit granting Santa's team permission to soar through Massachusetts skies, he will soon be arriving on Christmas Eve night. Healey said that this is a memorable tradition that helps bring joy to children throughout the state.
“No matter what holidays you celebrate, this is a season of connection and joy,” said Healey. “Santa and his reindeer are a beloved part of the magic, and we’re thrilled to welcome them back to our skies this Christmas Eve.”
MassWildlife encourages the viewing and appreciation of local wildlife throughout the year. To learn more about how to protect and preserve your local ecosystem for the holiday season and all year round, visit the site here.
