Lincoln Police were called to the Bridgeport Apartments, near 14th and Hilltop, around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on reports of shots fired.
Arriving officers found a 20-year-old man outside the apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a Lincoln hospital by ambulance, where he died. Officers learned that the two brothers had arrived at the apartment in separate vehicles at different times.
Captain Ben Miller said the 16-year-old told police he saw a man dressed in dark clothing and feared for his safety after being attacked Friday near 21st and K Streets. Not recognizing the victim as his brother, the teen fired several shots, striking and killing him.
The victims gun was recovered at the scene. The 16 year old will be charged with manslaughter and use of a weapon to commit a felony. The names of those involved have not been released by police.
