Sanctuary on Penn to be demolished after Tuesday morning fire

INDIANAPOLIS -- A historic church that has been located in downtown Indianapolis since 1875 will be demolished after Tuesday morning's fire.
Building Fire at E Walnut and N Pennsylvania St.
The department was called to a building near the intersection of E Walnut St. and N Pennsylvania St. at around 5:38 a.m. on Tuesday. The building was first built as First Lutheran Church in 1875 and was operating as a wedding venue and event space called The Sanctuary on Penn. .

FOX59/CBS4 crews on scene said that flames were continuing to come out of the building at around 6:05 a.m. as crews continue to try to put the fire out. At around 7 a.m., FOX59/CBS4 crews said that the roof of the building was completely gone and the front of the structure later collapsed.
According to AES Indiana, 168 customers were without power in the area of the fire as of 6:28 a.m. The power has since been turned back on.
According to a news release from the Indianapolis Fire Department, 28 units dispatched to the scene and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
