The weather has been quiet throughout the region this Christmas Eve morning. Skies even cleared briefly around downtown Indianapolis at sunrise, which resulted in areas of patchy fog to develop. Lows dropped into the lower to mid-30s in most locations. However, there were some communities that fell into the upper 20s, including Lafayette, Zionsville and Crawfordsville! There is much cloud cover across the Midwest and Great Lakes region today. The area will turn mostly cloudy again as highs rise into the mid-40s this afternoon. You can expect dry time ahead of the late evening rainfall. Light rain showers will begin to move into our southwestern counties around 10 PM. The activity is going to track northeast and approach downtown Indianapolis after 2 AM. The coverage will rise across the region by daybreak on Christmas Day. Be prepared to for scattered rainfall for the holiday tomorrow. In between the showers, skies will remain overcast as highs rise into the mid-40s. Up to 0.25” of rain is possible through Thursday morning with the highest totals concentrated over south-central Indiana. The cloudy and soggy pattern will continue through the weekend as temperatures gradually rise. Highs will even approach the 60° mark on Saturday! Rain chances drop next Monday.
