RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — To celebrate the season and spread some holiday cheer, nurses in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UNC Health Rex in Raleigh and UNC Children's in Chapel Hill dressed their tiniest patients in festive costumes.
What has become a holiday tradition, with the parent's permission, UNC Health officials dressed the babies in costumes such as St. Nick, tiny elves, candy canes, reindeer, the gingerbread man, presents and even a Christmas tree.

UNC Health officials said the costumes and decorations help parents and families enjoy the holidays and also help them look forward to brighter days ahead with their little ones.
