Toddler suffers lifethreatening injuries after shooting on I40 East in WinstonSalem, police say

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) -- Police are investigating after a shooting left a small child critically injured.
According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, officers were called to a hospital after two people with gunshot wounds arrived to be treated.

Police say that three people were shot at while driving down I-40 eastbound, near Buchanan Street. An adult man and a toddler were both shot. The man is stable but the toddler's injuries are considered life-threatening.
Winston-Salem police say this appears to be an isolated incident, the investigation remains ongoing.
