Man charged in murder of 59yearold WinstonSalem woman, police say

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A man is custody and is being charged with murder in the April shooting death of a 59-year-old Winston-Salem woman, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
At around 2:08 p.m. on April 14, officers came to an apartment on 1300 block of North Main Street in Winston-Salem after getting a report of a person being shot.
At the scene, police found Shannon Denean Clark, 59, of Winston-Salem, dead from gunshot wounds inside her home and a homicide investigation began.

On Monday, 24-year-old Troy Damentrice Abbitt was charged with felony murder. He is being held without bond and will appear in court on Dec. 27.

Investigators say that Abbitt was already in custody in Forsyth County on charges of felony possession of a firearm by a felon and felony discharging a firearm from within an enclosure in connection to Clark's death.
Jail records show that Abbitt was taken into custody by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office and given a $200,000 bond for those charges.
