(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sherriff's Office (EPSO) received a donation for its K9 unit. EPSO announced on Tuesday, Dec. 23, that it had recently received $15,000 from God's Pantry Ministry, a nonprofit in El Paso County. The donation was inspired by a chance meeting and interaction between Deputy Ronnie Hancock, and his (then) K9 partner Jinx, before he was killed in the line of duty in 2022 protecting his handler, peace officers, and members of the community. “It was an honor to support our local law enforcement and first responders,” said Carey Adams, Owner of God’s Pantry Ministries, “they work hard to protect and serve us all. We chose to donate to the K9 Unit in memory of K9 Jinx and all K9 partners who have served beside peacekeepers over the years. It was an honor to give back and recognize the work of law enforcement and Jinx’s sacrifice.” El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal said the donation will be used for the K9 partners at the station. “I am thankful to Carey and the volunteers at God’s Pantry for their work serving our community and for their generous donation to our K9 Unit,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “This donation will allow our Office to further invest in additional training, equipment, and veterinary care for our hardworking K9 partners: Jack, Dex, Styx, and Knox."
