(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A tradition of more than 50 years in the making continued in Colorado Springs on Saturday, Dec. 21, as the Cimarron Hills Fire Department escorted Santa Claus across the city.
The Santa Run is one of the longest-standing traditions that the Cimarron Hills Fire Department has provided to the community. First responders say the Santa Run has created so many memories for the department and the people who love to share how this event has impacted their families.

"For us, it's just something we really value," said Chief Andrew York, Cimarron Hills Fire Protection District. "You know, not a lot of organizations get the opportunity to do this, and we really pride ourselves on being very community-centered and spending as much time out here as we can. And we love that Santa takes a little bit of time out of his busy schedule to come down and be with us."
The Cimarron Hills Fire Department escorted the big man in red to 11 locations, including several parks and elementary schools.
